Born in Santiago de Cuba, Javier took his first steps in the world of dance already from childhood. Years later he moved to the city of Havana where he began his first academic studies at the National School of Art, specializing in modern and folk dance.
Once finished, he went on to professional life as part of the dance corps of one of the most prestigious dance companies in the country, the National Folkloric Ensemble of Cuba. For 15 years and in the company, he forged his experience as a professional dancer, nourishing himself with the best connoisseurs of this cultural manifestation until reaching the category of solo dancer. In 1995 he graduated from the Instituto Superior de Arte de La Habana (renowned art institution worldwide) specializing in Folk Art.
Monier moved to Madrid in 1999 where he continued to get involved once more in the dance world, beginning to be interested in the magic of the flamenco world and transmitting his artistic experience in the flamenco dance company of Elieser Trucco and María Carrasco. He has taught modern dance at the Instituto Superior de Danza de Madrid of the Fundación Alicia Alonso, Madrid Dance Center, and has always continued to develop other activities in the entertainment world in parallel.
Currently, Javier is one of the professors who enjoys great prestige on the national and international scene, within the dances and rhythms of Afro-Cuban origin, in addition to the different disciplines that accompany the world of dance.
It is with great pride that we warmly welcome Javier Monier to the SalsaNor Rueda Congress 2023!
