Rueda Congress News 

This year we have a record sign-up for the Rueda Congress. The congress is getting filled up, but there is still room for men, to even the balance between men and women in the rueda classes as much as possible.
Therefore, sign-up is now restricted to MEN and COUPLES (one man + one woman).

Women can still sign up, but only together with a man (who has not already signed-up). In that case, both the man and the woman must refer to each other in registration sheet, in the field "Other info / Annet (e.g. partner name)".

It's time for considering getting your local rueda group together and signing up for the rueda contest on SATURDAY september 6th in Atlantic Hall.

Notice the Saturday rueda class with focus on Rueda Performance, with an experienced performer teaching and preparing for performances just like this contest.

Remember to complete sign-up for all group members within august 1st to get the discount (see details).

This year will most likely be the biggest rueda congress since the beginning in 2002. Therefore we recommend to sign up as early as possible. Every month the price also goes up, and congress pass (all inclusive) is now Nok 1.590,- (~ £150 / €200) until august 1st. See sign-up page for price table, including discounts.

We are very happy to announce that more than half of the Rueda Congress passes are already sold! 
When those who have started group sign-up have finished we are close to 2/3 sold out. 
This means that we are heading towards the first sold out Norwegian Rueda Congress!

Currently there are 25% international sign-ups, most of them from the UK. 

Last year in Brighton we had an almost perfect 50/50 balance between men and women, which we hope for also this year. Therefore we ask all you men who normally sign up late to not wait much longer, if you want to get a pass this year. And to you women: get  your guys to sign up, so that we get an even balance between men and women. Those of you who have started on a group sign-up, please note that we do not reserve passes, it is up to you to sign up while there are passes left.

The rueda contest rules have been updatet on june 4th, due to questions about who might participate. Register your team for the contest no later than august 30th. Maximum 8 teams will participate.

SalsaNor proudly presents, for the first time in Norway, Yanek Revilla, from Santiago de Cuba, instructor at the 7th annual Rueda Congress in Stavanger.
Yanek is known for winning the national cuban dance contest "Bailar Casino" in 2004. This contest is shown on Cuban national TV, with lots of spectators, and this programme also nominated Yaneks dance group as the best Rueda de Casino performance of Cuba the following year.

Another new instructor at the Rueda Congress 2008 is Cuban Erodys Castillo Borrero from Havana. Excellent dancer and instructor, well experienced in working with europeans.

The Rueda Congress has outgrown SalsaNors regular dance venue, Bikubå. So this year we have booked venues to fit a slightly more participants than the last few years. 

For the 4 salsa parties we are using 4 different venues, including Stavanger's grand hall, Atlantic Hall, for the Saturday party / concert / congress dinner.  

The pogramme and class schedule is now updated with more information.

Details about the Saturday evening rueda competition will be out shortly. It will be an informal competition, like last year, and we recommend groups that are considering participating to take a look at the group discount, valid until august 1st.

Welcome to Stavanger!

This year we will provide contact between participants who would like to stay in private homes and local salseros who would like to host visitors.

The Rueda Congress is only responsible for providing contact between interested hosts and visitors, the rest is up to those who participate. There is no guaranty 
that there will be a sufficient number of hosts. Read about the arrangement here. 

Air fares to the Rueda Congress 2008 are at the moment (march 2008) quite reasonable.
