It is here irrelevant
whether - the classes have been paid for or there
have been free entrance - it is one series of classes or
one has done this for a few years - one has had
instructor training or not
3)
The music
to be used in the contest has to be chosen from these
tunes. The songs will be faded/cut to equal length at the
contest. The songs will be assigned to the team in advance, based
on the registration information.
4) Binding
registration
must be done by August
30th. Upon registration each team must state the members of the
team by name, contact person, any instructors, and which song(s)
the team would prefer (first and second priority).
5)
Each team
dances only once. If there are less than 4 teams, the teams dance
alone during the contest. With 4 teams or more, two teams will be
dancing at the same time, based on music choice and toss-up.
6)
The order
of the teams will be decided by drawing lots and music choice, and
the order will be announced on the day of the contest. All teams
must be present and ready at 21.30 pm by the stage area in
Atlantic Hall.
7)
The
judgement will be done by judges (instructors) and the audience.
The judges give points, and the audience's response counts.
Internal ranking of the jury’s points and audience's
response counts equally. If it is a tie, the tied teams will dance
again (at the same time) to unknown music, and the audience's
response will determine who wins.
The main focus in the
contest is Cuban Rueda de Casino. The judges will focus on:
a)
Energy and
enthusiasm when dancing b)
Technical performance,
style and flow, synchronized
moves
c)
Creativity and
playfulness between the team members d)
Complexity and
challenge in moves/variations and combination of Rueda
commands
Point a is assigned most weight, then b,c, and
d. The team should not aim at longer choreographed sequences or
acrobatics.
